Our Story

The Heart Behind The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place was created from a love for people, faith, community, and the moments that bring us together.

Meet Scott and Becka Brady
Partners in life, ministry, and a shared vision to create a place where people can gather, connect, worship, and feel at home.
A dream, a historic chapel, and a desire to bring people together.
Just before we moved to Perryton, Scott had a vivid dream ~ something very unusual for him. In the dream, we had found a small place to purchase. People were gathering there, Bible study was happening, and the place had a name: The Gathering Place.

Throughout our five years of marriage, we have shared a deep desire to use the gifts God has given us in a meaningful way. Scott served as a pastor in Des Moines, Iowa, for 36 years, and I have spent most of my life in some form of full-time ministry. We have both missed pouring into people, teaching God’s Word, sharing the love of Jesus, and creating places where people can feel welcomed, connected, and known.
When we saw this former church for sale it was one of those immediate “wow” moments for both of us. We could see the possibilities almost instantly ~ a beautiful chapel that could continue to be filled with worship and Scripture, but also a place where people could gather for some of life’s most meaningful moments.

We began imagining Sunday evening worship gatherings, intimate concerts, special events, celebrations, memorials, family gatherings, community events, and so much more.

As we learned more about the history of this church and its place in Perryton since the 1950s, the vision became even more meaningful to us. We saw an opportunity to preserve something special while giving this beautiful place a new chapter.

As the pieces began coming together, we kept coming back to Scott’s dream before our move to Perryton and the name that had been so clear in it ~ The Gathering Place. It simply felt like the right name for what we hoped this place could become.

So we decided to step out in faith, purchase the property, and begin creating a warm and welcoming place for faith, family, community, celebrations, remembrance, and so many of life’s meaningful moments.

Our hope is that The Gathering Place will honor the history held within these walls while becoming a place where new memories and meaningful moments are created for years to come.
History
From Trinity Presbyterian to The Gathering Place
Trinity Presbyterian Church was organized in Perryton in the 1950s with a small but determined congregation of about 30 members. Before having a building of their own, members gathered for worship in the Lutheran church on South Grinnell while plans were made for a permanent home.

In 1958, the church signed a construction contract for a new building at 18th and Drake. The brick, steel, and masonry structure was designed to include classrooms, a nursery, kitchen, pastor’s study, and a sanctuary seating approximately 100 people.

For nearly seven decades, Trinity Presbyterian became a place for worship, prayer, fellowship, and community life in Perryton. Its rooms were used not only by the congregation, but also by local groups and organizations serving families in the community.

In 2026, Trinity’s congregation voted to close after nearly 70 years of ministry. As The Gathering Place begins its new chapter, our hope is to honor what came before ~ preserving the chapel, caring for the property, and continuing to create a place where people can gather, connect, worship, celebrate, and belong.
